Trunk Or Treat

I had a lot of fun turning Nayeli into Cinderella. I got a glimpse of what it might be like to help her get ready for her first formal dance. I put her hair up in a french twist and secured it in place with hairspray. Then I applied my pink lip gloss to her small lips. She looked so beautiful. It is so much fun to have a little girl to dress-up.

Karyna was really excited to wear her butterfly costume. After we put the shiny pink costume on, the sound of little feet running across the hard wood floor and a deep pleasurable laugh were heard throughout the house. She was not quite as happy; however, when we put the headband with antennas on her head. I sadly took it off with the realization that our little butterfly might have to be a fairy instead. Oh well, she made a cute fairy too!

We had a lot of fun at the Trunk-or-Treat! I especially enjoyed seeing the excitement, awe and sometimes confused looks in the girls eyes. Nayeli paid close attention to the trunk decorations and the costumes the adults wore while handing out candy. There was a hippie, Phantom of the Opera-who terrified her, Dracula, skunks, Indiana Jones, and many more creative costumes. Karyna was a little mystified by the whole experience. She didn't know whether to run away from the enchanting parking lot, or to stay and empty every candy bowl in sight.

After trick or treating was over, we socialized by our trunks, waiting for the potluck to begin inside the church's cultural hall. The girls had fun discovering the treasure they had collected in their plastic pumpkin buckets. Nayeli enjoyed chomping on every piece of candy we allowed her to eat. Karyna was just happy chewing on unopened pieces of candy. If you tried to take one away from her she was one unhappy butterfly, fairy, whatever.

The Halloween festivities are not over yet. We promised Nayeli that we would take her out to a few houses on Halloween night. Lucky girl! Happy Halloween!
