Spartan Walk

We decided to take the girls on a walk through Michigan State's campus today. Grandma and my nephew Austin came too. The weather was not perfect, but a little sun and mild temperature is all it takes to enjoy a walk outside! You have to take what you get this time of year.

It was a little premature to enjoy all the beautiful flowers and fountains on campus, but with kids you can make anything appear exciting. We pointed out the few flowers that bloomed to Nayeli and Austin. We also showed them the many friendly squirrels on campus. We even spotted a duck sleeping.

After enjoying the simple beauties of nature we decided to show the kids the landmarks on campus. We visited Beaumont Tower and Sparty. At first, Nayeli was a little scared of the tall statue, but who can blame her. Sparty's buff and ten times her size!

When we were through taking many pictures by the landmarks we walked over to the children's garden's. For those of you with kids who are new to the area-I highly recommend visiting the children's garden's. Although I would advise waiting until May. The weather is warmer and most of the beautiful flowers already bloomed.

I anticipate we will make many more trips to campus this summer, especially since we are moving. It will be sad to leave the banks of the Red Cedar. It's such a huge part of my life. I grew up a state fan. My mother, uncle, and Grandpa were alumni, and my father grew up in the same town as the university, so there has been a long tradition of Spartan blood in my family. More recently, myself as well as my husband, brother, sister-and-laws, and brother-and-laws all graduated from here. It will be strange that Nayeli and Karyna will hardly know Spartan life.
